The top Universities in the UK require you to take the examination. The TMUA test results are mandatory as part of their admission process. Therefore, if you want to enrol in any of the following universities for specific courses, you need to sit for the TMUA.

What is a Good Score for TMUA?
There are no passing marks in the TMUA exam. Similarly, nobody fails in the paper. You are just expected to do the best you can. Your final score is calculated based on the number of correct answers. There is no negative marking. Therefore, you can attempt all the questions. That said, a good score for the TMUA examination is as follows:

How to Register for the TMUA Exam in 2025?
The TMUA examination dates vary depending on the university. However, the registration process is the same. You have to register for the TMUA exam through the official website, University Admissions Test UK or the UMAT UK page for TMUA exams. To register for the exam, follow these steps:
- First, create a UAT-UK account– You need a UCAS ID for registration purposes. You need to enter your details. For example, the email address used for the UCAS application.
- Add a test card: You need to choose the test you want to take and select the course you want to apply for.
- Book your test: When the test booking slot opens, you can book your test date and the examination centre.
- Pay the fees: Pay the test fees and appear for the test on the exam day.
When Will You Get the TMUA Test Results?
The TMUA test results are announced after 6 weeks of taking the test. You can check your results through the Pearson VUE booking portal. This means those who take the examination in the month of October can expect their results by late November. Similarly, those who take the exam in January can check their results in mid-February. The good news is that you do not have to send your results university. The test results are directly sent to the selected University.

Is TMUA Very Hard?
Yes. The TMUA is considered one of the challenging entrance exams. You need a solid foundation of mathematics to clear this paper. You are not allowed to use calculators or a dictionary. Starting from 2026, UCL is introducing TMUA for several of its mathematics and social science courses. This means from next year onwards, for admission to UCL, clearing TMUA is going to be mandatory. Currently, you only need TMUA for admission to the BSc Economics course.
TMUA is not harder than A levels, but it is different. The examination emphasises logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. However, A-Levels cover a broader scope of mathematical topics and require more memorisation. TMUA is more challenging only to those students who focus on rote learning.
No. Last minute preparation is not advisable. You need to dedicate at least 6 months to prepare for the TMUA examination. It is extremely challenging to prepare for the exam in 1 month.
