TMUA Dates for Cambridge University

Cambridge University ranks 5th in the world as per the QS World Rankings 2025. Therefore, there are many applicants for this specific university. Cambridge follows a different format. Hence, if you want to take the test for admission to Cambridge, you need to register in June and take the examination in October.

TMUA Exam Dates for Other UK Universities 

Apart from Cambridge University, various other UK universities accept the TMUA exam results. The TMUA exam dates at all other UK universities are different. For example, universities like the London School of Economics and Political Science and University College London. Such applicants need to sit for the January 2026 examination. The registration can be done online in 2025. You only need to sit for the exam once, and the results will be sent to all the UK universities you are applying to.

How to Register Before the TMUA Registration Deadline?

The TMUA dates have already been released. Therefore, you know that if you are a Cambridge applicant, you need to sit for the October exam, and if you are applying to any other university, you need to sit for the January 2026 exam. Although the examination registration dates are different, the registration process is the same! You can register for the examination by following the steps below:

  1. Visit the University Admissions Test UK account and create a UAT-UK account when registration starts.
  2. Secondly, ensure that you already have a UCAS ID. You will need it for the registration process.
  3. Ensure that you are registering with the same email address that you have used for UCAS application registration. Otherwise, the University will not be able to track your application, and your test results will be withdrawn.
  4. After the registration, you can log in to your account and add a test card. This means you need to choose the test you want to take and the course you are seeking admission to.
  5. The TMUA test booking slot is different for Cambridge and other university applicants. When the test slot for your university opens, you can choose your test date and your test centre.
  6. The TMUA examination requires a fee to be paid. You can pay online and confirm your test booking. Thereafter, print out the form and show up at the test centre on the test day.

TMUA Exam Fees for Taking the Test in India

The TMUA exam fees vary depending on the location of the test centre. Those taking the examination within the UK will find that their test fees are lower compared to other nationalities. Moreover, UK applicants can also benefit from the benefits provided by the UK government. On the other hand, if you are taking the TMUA exam anywhere else, the fee is standard and higher. There are no bursaries you can benefit from, and the fee is non-refundable. The TMUA exam fees in India are as follows:

6 Tips To Prepare for the TMUA Examination

The TMUA examination requires at least 6 months of proper preparation. To clear the examination, you need to study well. The examination marks are counted as part of your overall student profile. Here are five tips you can use to prepare for the TMUA examination.

  1. First of all, understand the exam format and the TUMA exam dates. The exam consists of two papers: mathematical reasoning and mathematical thinking. 
  2. The TMUA website has provided previous year papers. Go through them and understand the kind of questions being asked.
  3. Simulate test conditions to build your exam technique and practice. Learn how to manage time well.
  4. TMUA is all about mathematical skills. Therefore, strengthen your mathematical foundations. Learn mathematical formulas and develop problem-solving skills. Working on logical questions and understanding how you have concluded.
  5. Many students don’t prepare for the second paper 2. You need to give equal importance to both papers.
  6. Lastly, build a realistic study schedule and stick to it. The day before the exam, ensure that you are well-rested.

When Should You Take the TMUA?

The TMUA dates for Cambridge and all other universities vary.  If you are planning to take the examination for Cambridge examination, you need to sit for the October exam in 2025. On the other hand, if you want to apply to all other universities, the examination has to be taken in January. Once results are announced, all universities (excluding Cambridge) will receive your test results. 

Secondly, TMUA examinations are not conducted in 1 day. You are given the option to choose between two days. For example, TMUA dates for Cambridge are Monday 13th & Tuesday 14th October 2025. Similarly, the TMUA dates for other universities are Thursday, 8th & Friday,9th January 2026. As a test, you have the choice between these days. Choose a date that is comfortable for you, and a test centre that is near your location.

How To Cancel the TMUA Examination?

You can cancel the TMUA examination 48 hours before the test. You can also choose to reschedule the examination. To cancel a paper, log in to the Pearson VUE account, find your booking, and choose to cancel. The Pearson VUE customer service will assist you with the test cancellation.

 You are eligible for a refund if you cancel the paper 48 hours before the exam. Otherwise, you will not get a refund. If you are cancelling the paper due to unforeseen circumstances, like a medical emergency within 48 hours of the test, you may be eligible for special consideration. Therefore, contact the Pearson customer service to know about the same.

Is 7 a good TMUA score?

Definitely! Scoring 7 in TMUA is not easy. Any score above 6.5 is considered to be excellent. A score of 7 is only obtained by exceptional students.

Can you do TMUA twice?

No. You cannot take the TMUA examination twice. You can only give the examination once per academic cycle. You can choose to take the test either in October or January next year.

Is TMUA harder than a level maths?

Yes. TMUA is considered harder than A-level maths because the test questions are more complex. To clear the paper, you need to have advanced reasoning skills. Rote learning will not help you clear this exam. You need to know how to apply mathematics to different situations.

What TMUA score is needed for LSE?

The London School of Economics and Political Science has not provided any official test scores that they require. On average, offer holders had a score of 6.3. A score above 6.5 is considered to be extremely good.

Does Cambridge look at TMUA?
