About TISCH School of Arts
The school is known as the performing, cinematic and media arts school of New York Academy. The school offers 16 different programs across 3 different institutes which are as follows:
The Institute of Performing Arts: dance, design for stage and film drama art & public policy, graduate acting, graduate musical, open arts, theatre writing and performing arts.
The Institute of Emerging Media includes the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, ITP/IMA, NYU game centre and photography and imaging.
The Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television including cinema studies, (MIAP) Moving Image Archiving and Preservation, program was founded by Howard Besser, the Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing, Undergraduate Film and Television and Graduate Film.

History of TISCH Schools of Arts
TISCH School of Arts was founded on 17 August 1965. Initially, the institute was founded as a research institute with the purpose of providing conservatory training in the field of film and theatre. The school has many departments focusing on various artistic fields including dance, theatre design, and cinema studies.
In 1974, the undergraduate department of Drama was created. Later, many other departments were added as well such as the interactive telecommunication program, the department of performance studies, the department of dramatic writing, the graduate musical theatre writing program, the department of photography and imaging and the department of art and public policy.
IN 1982, Laurence A. and Preston Robert Tisch made a generous donation to the second dean, David Oppenheim for the acquisition and renovation of the location at 721 Broadway. To acknowledge the generous gesture of the Tisch family, in the same the institute was renamed the TISCH School of Arts.
