Study in USA: Embassy Creates Record by Issuing 125,000 Visas to Indian Students in 2023

The US Embassy in India has issued a record-breaking number of visas to Indian students in 2023. As the year proceeds, the count is still on. Out of these 125,000 visas, some are exchange program visas and the remaining are all student visas

The US Secretary of State recently announced that they would attempt to streamline the visa process. They will achieve this by making the application easier and more sorted for evaluation. Moreover, after lifting pandemic restrictions, top study-abroad destinations are witnessing an influx of students.

The USA is the country to experience the most of this influx being popular among students. The US government is trying to open more gates for international students by improving student visa processing. The officials have also extended the visa application window to 365 earlier this year onwards.

Comparing Statistics

There has been nearly a 60% rise in the number of student visa acceptance for Indian students in 2023. This rise is only as compared to the previous year’s records, the rise in visas compared to the pandemic-affected years is exceptionally high.

Surprisingly, these numbers are even higher than the pre-pandemic where 202,014 students went abroad to study in the USA in 2019. Moreover, out of all the sponsored student visa grants in 2023 nearly 1/3rd were issued to Indians.

These numbers are rising as the months pass by and students are eagerly waiting to see how the numbers will surge after the rapid visa processing and easier application process has been introduced. Analysts say that these numbers are 7 times higher than that in previous years.

The student visas issued this year include visas for higher education i.e., 91%, of tertiary education visas 4%, visas for independent schools 3%, for English language schools 2% and 1% of other visas.
