Study in UK: India Is Yet again leading the Visa Number for Skilled Workers, Students and Medical Personnels

According to the data of immigration statistics released on November 23th, 2023. India is commanding the UK again in terms of its skilled workers, medical personnels and the students.

Citizens of India are leading the skilled worker visa and healthcare visa too. This data comes from Office for National Statistics (ONS) which is assembled by the UK Home Office for this September 2023 end. In terms of students’ visa category, Indians are yet again to represent the largest group of students allowed leave to remain on the relatively new post-study graduate visa route, representing 43 per cent of grants.

Positive Sign in All Types of Visa

UK’s Home Office analysis also notes “In this period of time, ‘skilled worker’ visas have seen a respectable rise in the past year (+9%), ‘skilled worker–health and care’ visas permitted have more than doubled (+135%) to 143,990. Indian (38,866), Nigerian (26,715), and Zimbabwean (21,130) respectively for the previous year,”.

Massive Growth in the Healthcare Visa Stats

There is a 76% rise in health and care visa figures for Indian applicants. On the other hand, there is a slight decline in the Skilled Worker route of 11%. In the ending of September 2022 20,360 visas were granted to the Indian nationals and by the ending of September 2023 only 18,107 were granted. 

Analysis also showed 133,237 sponsored study visas were granted to Indian nationals by the ending of September 2023. In September 2022 ending this year saw 5,804 (+5%) increase.

Analysis also showed one more positive sign that Indian citizens contributed for over one-quarter (27%) of all sponsored study permits to main applicants in the latest year,”. Indian citizens also continued to account for the highest proportion (27%) of tourist ‘Visitor’ visas permitted. After India the Chinese (19 per cent) and Turkish nationals (6 percent) grab the 2nd and 3rd spot respectively.
