The cost of renting a unit as compared to a house has finally closed to $39 (Rs 3,224) a week. The demand for smaller homes in nearby cities is increasing every day as prices increase in Australia.

Looking at the data a year ago, there has been a huge price increase between leasing a property and a unit. Last week, price of one unit was $64 (Rs 5,293) for a week. However, this was slashed after several cheaper styles of accommodation emerged.

The overall rental price increase for one unit has risen up to over 1.6 per cent over the past month. This is in comparison with the rent for houses which rose to over 0.9 per cent since April. 

Over the past few months, it is witnessed that units are a more affordable option. This is a great option for new migrants, students, service workers and many other tenant types. The demand is increasing which has led to prices also increasing. 

In Australia, the national vacancy rate is 40 per cent below the five-year average. This means that all the students who are looking for accommodation should start looking for the same. 

Apart from this, Sydney is the nation’s most costly rental market, considered in April. The rents jumped by 1.9 per cent. 

While, tenant rental costs in Canberra remained the same for a month. Lastly, Darwin was the only city which had some relief from renters.
