Study Abroad: National University of Singapore Becomes First Asian University on the QS List of Top 10 Universities in the World
The National University of Singapore has secured the #8 rank on the world’s QS list of best universities. It has also been ranked as the best higher education institution in Asia.

In the last week of June 2023, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released a list of the world’s best universities. The US universities dominated the top 20 universities by making up half of their volume.

Other universities in the top 20 were from Australia, the UK, Switzerland and China. MIT has achieved the top rank for the 12th consecutive year. Also, it is succeeded by the University of Cambridge

As for the National University of Singapore, it secured rank 11 in the QS world university ranking list 2023. This year, the university broke the record and became the first university to be included in the QS list of Top 10 universities. 

Singapore and Switzerland are the only two nations representing universities in the QS top 10 list apart from the UK and USA who have taken over the rest of the list. Moreover, NUS is a young institution established in 1905, making this victory even more commendable.

Making it to the list of best universities in the world is not a new gig for NUS. For years now the university has been in the race of becoming the best. In 2023, apart from getting a #13 rank in the QS list, NUS also scored #19 rank on the Times Higher Education list. 

Moreover, the National University of Singapore was also on the list of US News Best Global University Rankings 2023 in the #26 position. In lieu of all this information, NUS is becoming a global favourite in education for national as well as overseas students. 

The National University of Singapore offers 68 undergraduate programs and 216 postgraduate programs. These programs are offered under 17 different faculties under NUS. Subsequently, the university is not new to international students.

NUS caters to around 38,000 students coming from 100 different countries. Therefore it offers a diverse social and cultural perspective. Students require a GPA of more than 3.6 to attain admission to this university. 

There are around 8,129 international students at the university out of which 53% are pursuing an undergraduate degree. Surprisingly, 63% of the university staff is also international. Therefore, the National University of Singapore is emerging as an amazing place to study abroad.
