Study Abroad: 174 Indian Students Awarded the Prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship  
Most of the beneficiaries belong to U.P, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Delhi, and Kerala. 50% of the selected students from India are women.

This year, a total of 174 Indian students have been awarded the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, marking the largest cohort of Indian students chosen annually. Additionally, women constitute 50% of the students awarded this scholarship. Furthermore, 2,835 international students from 143 countries worldwide have recieved the scholarship to pursue degree programs.

The European Union to India Delegation has organized an event for the departing Indian students to celebrate this milestone. 

The EU launches Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters as Master’s level integrated study programmes. The Erasmus Mundus Programme awards the EMJM scholarship to international students who want to pursue a Master’s degree from a college affiliated with it. The scholarship fully funds the participating expenses, living expenses, and travel expenses of the beneficiaries.

The Number of Scholarship Winners Have Increased 

H.E Seppo Nurmi, chargé d’ Affaires EU Delegation to India and Bhutan stated that a total of 174 Indian students have won the scholarship beating the last year figure of 161 Indian students.  Considering how competitive the scholarship programme is, the winners deserve a big applause. Moreover, it highlights the growing people-to-people connection between the EU and India.

According to him, the Erasmus programmes offer a student state of the art- education opportunities and professional development.  Additionally, it allows them to gain cultural experiences, and a unique opportunity to explore the diversity of Europe.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Beneficiaries From India

The Indian recipients of the scholarship hail from 21 different states and union territories. The largest number of scholarship recipients come from U.P, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Kerala. 17 different EU countries would host the beneficiaries. For example, France, Italy, Belgium, Finland, and Spain. However, some would be staying in other countries.

The scholarship beneficiaries have chosen to study subjects from both within the sciences, and the social sciences. Environmental Sciences, Medicine, Data Science, and courses in the domain of Energy are some of the most preferred subjects.
