He is a filmmaker, actor, writer and musician who has been living in Los Angeles since the early 1990s. Having faced adversity in his childhood, the award-winning and critically acclaimed autobiographical film Farming – Adewale turned his life around. He left King’s College London with an LLM Master of Laws, during which he studied criminal law and criminal justice, and completed a thesis on the United Kingdom’s prison system. 

During his studies, Adewale worked in a designer clothes shop, which exposed him to the modelling world. This subsequently sent him to Hollywood. His acting career started in 1995 when he got a role in the science-fiction action-adventure film Congo.

Dr Lama Al Sulaiman

Another one of the most famous King’s College London notable alumni is Dr Lama Al Sulaiman (PhD Nutrition, 2004). She was voted in as the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (JCCI’s) board member in 2025, making her one of the first women in Saudi Arabia to win elected office. In 2000 – after gaining a BSc in biochemistry and, later, a master’s in health and nutrition from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah – Lama joined forces with her cousin to open the first female-only health club in the city.

In 2009, Lama was chosen as the Vice Chairwoman of the JCCI, becoming the first woman to have such a position in Saudi history. As a result, she became Saudi Arabia’s unexpected pioneer of women’s rights. Lama made history again in 2015 when she won a municipal election and became one of the first women politicians in Saudi Arabia.

Anita Anand (English, 1993) graduated from King’s, and then, trained as a journalist, joining the newsroom of Zee TV, which is the first privately owned satellite and cable channel in India. As a political correspondent, she was the presenter of the talk show The Big Debate and the documentary series Raj Britannia. By 1997, she was European Head of News and Current Affairs and among the youngest TV news editors in Britain at the age of 25 years old. Dina Asher-Smith

Dina Asher-Smith (History, 2017) is a sprinter who has British records in both the 100 and 200 metres. She came via the King’s Sport Performance Athlete programme, which offers support to student-athletes competing at an elite level. Dina achieved her biggest sprinting success to date in 2018, receiving a gold medal treble in the European Championships. Sir Arthur C. Clarke

Arthur started his literary career writing for science fiction magazines and fanzines. He received the Nebula Award and the Hugo Award for his novels Rendezvous with Rama and The Fountains of Paradise respectively.
