He is a filmmaker, actor, writer and musician who has been living in Los Angeles since the early 1990s. He left King’s College London with an LLM Master of Laws, during which he studied criminal law and criminal justice, and completed a thesis on the United Kingdom’s prison system.

She was voted in as the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (JCCI’s) board member in 2025, making her one of the first women in Saudi Arabia to win elected office. In 2000 – after gaining a BSc in biochemistry and, later, a master’s in health and nutrition from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah – Lama joined forces with her cousin to open the first female-only health club in the city.

In 2009, Lama was chosen as the Vice Chairwoman of the JCCI, becoming the first woman to have such a position in Saudi history. As a result, she became Saudi Arabia’s unexpected pioneer of women’s rights. Lama made history again in 2015 when she won a municipal election and became one of the first women politicians in Saudi Arabia.

Anita Anand (English, 1993) graduated from King’s, and then, trained as a journalist, joining the newsroom of Zee TV, which is the first privately owned satellite and cable channel in India.
