Czech Tourist Visa Requirements: Documentation

As per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the documents required to apply for a Czech tourist visa are as follows. These documents must be either in English or Czech.. The documents you submit will verify your eligibility and identity.

Passport 

To apply for the tourist visa you need to have a passport. The passport must be:

  • Issued in within the last 1 years 
  • Valid 3 months beyond the duration of your stay
  • Consists of 2 empty pages
  • Must not be expired, damaged or consist of incorrect entries 
  • Have a photograph to confirm your current appearance 

Visa Application Form

Download the C visa application form in English (if you are Indian), and fill out the form electronically. The form can be printed in black and white. You are required to fill out your application form. However, in the case of minors, their parents can fill the form on their behalf.

Photograph 

You must submit a photo as per the Czech tourist visa requirements. The photo must-

  • Show your current appearance 
  • Your full face must be visible
  • You must be in civic attire and must not be wearing any sunglass or head cover (except in case of religious reasons)
  • The height from your eyes to your chin must be 13mm (minimum)
  • The photo must be in  35 x 45 mm size

  • You need to visit the Czech embassy or consulate in person to submit your fingerprints
  • Children under the age of 12 do not need to submit their fingerprints
  • Children between 12 and 15 need to visit the embassy or consulate in person to submit biometric information. Moreover, they must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians
  • Once your fingerprints are submitted, it is valid for the next 59 months.

  • Proof of accommodation in the Czech Republic:  The acceptable documents include a hotel voucher, a hotel booking, a spa voucher, an official invitation (certified by the Foreign Police Service), the inviting party’s undertaking, or a private invitation consisting of the address and name of the inviting person and the dates of visit.
  • Proof of finances:  One of the main Czech tourist visa requirements is to prove you have funds to cover your expenses for your stay. Proof of funds can be your bank statement, an internationally accepted bank card a travel agency invoice, a prepaid voucher, salary proof, an employment contract, etc.

Prove that You Intend to Leave the Country

A C visa only permits you to enter the country for tourism purposes. Therefore, you will have to go back to your country after your stay, To prove that you intend to do so you need to submit documents such as 

  • Air ticket reservation 
  • Any other type of reservation
  • Proof of strong ties to home country. For example, an employment contract, leave of absence from school, etc.

Get a Travel Medical Insurance 

You need to get medical insurance for the duration of your stay. The medical insurance must cover all expenses related to the following:

  • Urgent medical care 
  • Repatriation for medical reasons
  • Emergency hospital care
  • Death

It is one of the most important Czech tourist visa requirements. The medical insurance must be valid in all the Schenegen states. The minimum amount of medical insurance you need to get for 3 months of stay is EUR 30,000.

For example, a harmonised list od supporting documents are available in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic website. The Czech tourist visa is only granted if you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses. The financial requirements include:

  • You must have a minimum bank balance to cover your expenses for the duration of your stay
  • You must have funds to pay the visa fees: EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children between the ages of 6 to 11, and free for those below the age of 6
  • You must have paid the medical insurance: A medical insurance of EUR 30,000 valid in all the Schenegen states

While applying for the Czech tourist visa, you must keep the following guidelines in mind.

  • You can apply for a Schengen visa/C visa not more than 6 months in advance. Late applications that give less than 15 days to process the applications are not accepted.
