  • The age of student must not be more than 30 years old during the first year of their Post Graduation (PG).

  • Distance learning programmes are not considered. 
  • Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges that are included under sections 2(f) & and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission Act. 
  • The universities/institutions/colleges funded by the central or state government and institutions of national importance are included under this scholarship. 

Application Period of PG Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship 

The dates for application vary every year for Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship. The application typically opens in July. The weeks of January or October are the months when the applications are due. For the academic year, 2022-2023 the scholarship application was till October 31, 2022.

Students can easily apply for the Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship by visiting the National e-Scholarship Portal of the Government of India before the tentative deadlines. The steps for this application are mentioned below. We advise students to read the application steps carefully. 

  • Visit the official web portal and register for the scholarship. 
  • Fill in all the relevant information regarding your family, education, scholarship category, domicile state, etc. 
  • Submit your bank details, i.e Account Number, Account Holder’s name, Bank Name and IFSC code.

  • Students also have to mention their chosen university/college/institution for verification before moving on to the next step, that is, the selection process.

Benefits of PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child 

The chosen student will be given a scholarship worth INR 36,200/- per year for the full two years of post-graduate studies. The girl student will receive the award through the University Grants Commission designated by the agency from the date of their enrollment in their first year of the PG course. The awardee must provide the designated agency with a copy of their award letter, joining letter, phone number, address and picture. 

Terms and Conditions 

  • The candidates who qualify for this UGC scholarship are the ones who enrolled in a Post Graduate course in their first year. 
  • The students will not get any additional grants to cover their medical expenses, hostel fees, etc. 
  • If any students decide to stop their studies without giving any notice in advance to UGC, they need to reimburse the entire fee by e-mode (RTGS/NEFT) and deposit it into the UGC account. 
  • The candidates for this scholarship are not required to pay any tuition fee at the host institution. 
  • The candidates must submit their Progress Report in the required format to the designated bank, on the basis of which the funds will be released to the recipients. 
  • The department head, the head of the institution, the university registrar, or the college’s principal must sign the report properly.
