Speech on Sustainable Technology for School Students in English

‘Hello everyone, I welcome you all to the speech on sustainable technology that will not only help in learning the benefits of technology but also how we can minimize the harmful effects, and what economic and social impacts it creates on the environment and resources.

Sustainable technology helps in the improvement of communication, access to information, efficiency in work, and productivity. Elimination of personal presence and meetings, which on the one hand consume time for the user, on the other hand, helps in reaching out to people without any limitation to the geographical location.

Coming to our daily lives, whether it is about a smartphone or a smart television, tracing the location, downloading papers, running different types of applications, or watching the latest movies without the need for cable or separate streaming devices not only helps us in convenience but also gives us entertainment as well as luxury. 

But wait, as it said excess of everything is bad so the same applies to the excessive use of technology too. As we are relying on technology more, the adverse effects of technology on the environment can be seen easily. 

Exhaustion of the ozone layer results in the degradation of ultraviolet radiation filtering capabilities, cutting down of trees in large numbers, and reduction in power and energy consumption. Destruction of wildlife habitat exploitation of nature and the immense heap of waste produced by technology are matters of concern regarding the disadvantages of the use of technology. 

As we have seen the positive and negative impacts of technology, now the question arises how can the environment be saved from the use of technology to the environment and resources? The answer is simple, it is by sustainable technology.  

Sustainable technology is the idea of using sources of energy and devices that improve the responsible factors that harm the environment or resources. The main idea behind using sustainable technology is to preserve the environment or to solve the setbacks of the environment that happen due to excessive use of technology or technological devices. 

The best example of sustainable technology is LED lights which consume less energy and last longer. Moreover, it also helps in reducing the frequent replacements and lowers the energy consumption. Similarly, Solar LED lights help the environment by not producing harmful greenhouse gases but also less cost of maintenance and have a longer lifespan. 

Moving ahead from the definition and examples of sustainable technology, let us now understand its environmental, economic, and social importance to society. 

Different types of renewable energies like electric cars and public transportation are free from the burning of fossil fuels and help produce fewer greenhouse gases. Comparatively greenhouse gas emissions help in improving the quality of air, decrease the change of climatic conditions help in fewer droughts, fall of the level of the sea, and no sudden changes in the weather events. Moreover, renewable energies are free from the pollutants that degrade the quality of air and make the ecosystem and humans unhealthy. 

Sustainable development in technological devices is cost-effective and offers a more stable and predictable cost of energy. The lower price helps benefit consumers and businesses as well. The reduced cost of manufacturing energy consumption devices helps not only boost the cost of innovation but also develop economic competitiveness and establish leadership in the growing green economy.

It should be noted that as per the data from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 24.8 percent of deaths in India are caused by respiratory diseases, which cause 10.2 percent of deaths. Minimizing the impurity of air and water in the environment improves public health, especially respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses. 

Other than the health solution, renewable energy helps provide access to energy in remote areas with minimum costs. Decentralized devices, such as solar power, provide energy to remote areas that improve living conditions and promote social equity as well.

When it comes to the protection of health, the environment, and society, social messages should be spread at a major level. The curriculum of schools, colleges, and universities should have topics that help in understanding the sustainability of technology comprehensively. People should be made aware of cost-effective devices through social media posts, skits, and short movies that will help them with less price and good use without harming the environment. 

In conclusion, I can say that sustainable technology not only helps in addressing environmental challenges but it also helps in stimulating economic growth and promoting social well-being. Its combination with the energy systems helps in the contribution of supporting inhabitants, future generations as well as the planet.
