As per official data, there are 486 airstrips or airports in India. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) manages 137 airports of them. It includes 103 domestic airports, 34 international airports and 10 custom airports. Some airports are Civil Enclaves. A civil enclave is an area at a military air base allotted for the usage of civil aviation.
There are some flying strips dedicated to flying schools in India and military air bases. So, the exact number of Airstrips/Airports in India is 486.

Customs airport is defined as an airport appointed under Section 6(1) of the Customs Act 2015, as an airport for the landing or departure of aircraft for the enactments relating to Customs.
