Bhagat Singh also known as Shaheed (Martyr) Bhagat Singh, was a freedom fighter and contributed a lot to the Indian Nationalist Movement. In November 1928, national leader Lala Lajpat Rai died, after a lathi charge by James A Scott, superintendent of the British Police, Bhagat Singh along with his partner Shivram Rajguru, shot another assistant superintendent of Police of Lahore, John Saunders. They intended to kill the same superintendent, however, they ended up killing the wrong police. Then in 1929, Bhagat Singh bombed the Central Legislative Assembly. All these incidents led to Bhagat Singh being hanged by the Britishers.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh was born in 1907 in the Banga Village of the erstwhile Punjab district of Pakistan, called Lyallpur. He was just 23 years old when he was hanged to death for his revolutionary nationalist activities.

Death of Bhagat Singh
For the murder of the police superintendent officer J.P. Saunders in the city of Lahore, in the year 1931, Shaheed Bhagat Singh was hanged to death on 23rd March 1931. Before hanging him to death, Bhagat Singh was arrested in 1928. He was on a trial period for years, where he expressed his ideologies on freedom and independence of the nation. Furthermore, he refused to seek mercy from Britishers when given the chance and stuck to his words. Although the whole nation was demanding his release, Bhagat Singh was hanged to earth along with his friends.
