The full form of IPS is Indian Police Service, which, along with IAS and IFoS, is one of the three arms of All India Services. The Ministry of Home Affairs is the IPS’s cadre controlling authority. In 1948, it took over from the Indian Imperial Police. An IPS officer must safeguard the safety of citizens by upholding the rule of law. They also command and lead state and UT police forces, National Security Guards, CAPF forces (BSF, SSB, CRPF, CISF, and ITBP), etc. Furthermore, the Indian Police Service is a dream job for many young people who want to actively serve their country and its people. The salary range for IPS officers is determined by the Seventh Pay Commission to be between Rs. 56,100 and Rs. 2,25,000. An officer’s seniority also determines this remuneration.
