The University of Southern Denmark was established in the year 1998. This was when the Odense University, the Southern Denmark School of Business and Engineering and the South Jutland University centre were merged. The University ranks at the 353rd position according to the QS World University Rankings. Times Higher Education puts it in the range of 251-300. SDU is affiliated with the EUA and is currently educating over 29,000 students at various levels of education.
The university campus is present in 6 cities, namely- Odense, Copenhagen, Slagelse, Esbjerg, Kolding and Sønderborg. As a national institution, the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) comprises five faculties – Humanities, Science, Engineering, Social Sciences and Health Sciences totalling 32 departments, 11 research centres and a university library. Spread over 5 campuses, the University offers the best quality of education to its students and provides them with the infrastructure to grow.
