History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1880, the University of Southern California is one of America's oldest private research institutes located in Los Angeles, California, USA. It is the global centre for technology, International Business, and Arts. There were only 10 staff and 53 students in the institute when it started in 1880. The University of Southern California has academic affiliations with the Association of American Universities (AAU), the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU). It is also among the sea-grant, space-grant group of US universities. The University has athletic affiliations with NCAA Division I FBS, Pac-12, American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The University of Southern California ranks #112 in QS World University Rankings 2022 and #63 in World University Rankings by Times Higher Education 2022. Furthermore, the University of Southern California ranks #70 in the latest U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings of 2022.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The University of Southern California is situated in the creative capital of the world known for innovation and international trade, Los Angeles. It has two main campuses: the Park Campus, and the Health Campus. The University Park Campus, situated in downtown Los Angeles, is home to David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Science and USC Dana, and numerous other schools. The Health campus located in the northeast of downtown is home to the School of Pharmacy and numerous courses in Occupational Science and in Physical Therapy and Bio-kinesiology. Apart from the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, which is staffed with the institute professors from Keck School of Medicine, is known as the third campus of the institute. The University of Southern California offers 95 Bachelor's and 147 academic and professional degrees and the graduate degrees offer 134 Postgraduate programs, Doctoral and Professional programs.
Accomplishments and Alumni
The University of Southern California has been fully and regularly accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) since 1949. The University has an alumni network of 450,000 living worldwide and is popularly known as the “Trojan Family.” Further, the University has produced an economic impact of $8 billion+. The notable alumni of the institute are Neil Armstrong, the first human to walk on the Moon, Charles Bolden, former Director of NASA, retired the United States Marine Corps Major General, and former Astronaut George Lucas, creator of Star Wars.

The College has more than 49,500 student enrolments out of which about 21,000 are undergraduates and about 28,500 are postgraduates with about 4,700 faculty members on its premises.
