History, Affiliations and Rankings
Sogang University was established as Sogang School in 1960 by the Wisconsin province of the Society of Jesus in South Korea. Sogang school got the status of a university in the year 1970. Society of Jesus is an education system based on Catholic beliefs in alignment with the Korean tradition of education. It is one of the most prestigious South Korean universities known for private research. Approximately annually 8000 students study at Sogang University. University aims to provide education with love, faith and respect and encourage students to seek learning with the sincere quest for truth. Sogang university hosts festivals like International Student Night and Korean Film Festival.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Sogang University campus have 27 buildings spread over 60 acres in Seoul city of South Korea. Modern style design campus with 21st-century state of art infrastructure. Students can immerse themselves in the healthy learning environment offered by the institute. The campus of Sogang University is located in the capital city of Seoul in South Korea. The academic programs offered by Sogang University are mainly divided into three categories. Undergraduate programs offered by universities in both English and Korean Languages. It consists of 27 departments divided into 9 schools. The best major course that comes under UG programs are Business Administration, Communication, and Global Korean studies are considered as best majors. In addition, graduate programs at the University of Sogang consist of three different schools namely General Studies, Business Studies, and International Studies. General Studies school offers both Masters's and PhD courses with 25 departments and 5 interdisciplinary programs. Business Studies school offers a full-time MBA. Globalization, Leadership, Business Excellence and Ethics are the strategic core value instilled in the program. International Studies school offers four multidisciplinary programs. All programs are offered in the English Language. Short-term Program covers student exchange programs. Sogang University welcomes all graduate and undergraduate students that have a joint academic exchange agreement with the university.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Songang University is affiliated with ACUCA, AJCU-AP and AACSB affiliations. ACUCA is the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia, an organization of Christian universities and colleges in Asia dedicated to Christian witness and service in the education field. AJCU-AP is the association of higher educational institutions of 22 Jesuit colleges and universities in the Asia Pacific region. AACSB is the association to advance collegiate schools of business and is an American professional organization for management education.
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
Approximately out of 15000 students over 400 international study at Sogang University. Sogang has a total of 75 student clubs and associations, including those that focus on traditional Korean cultures such as Dance, Music and Taekwondo. Apple, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, NAVER Corp., SK Hynix, Deloitte, Hyundai Motor Company, LG Chem, EY, Coupang, IBM, PwC, Google, Amazon Web Services etc are among the companies visiting the Sogang University campus for recruitment propose.
