History, Affiliations and Rankings

The Georgia Institute of Technology was established on October 13, 1885, in Georgia in the USA as a public research education institution. Commonly, it's called Georgia Tech or GIT. The first batch of the university was started in 1888. At that time, only 84 students had arrived. However, the university has marked itself as a recognized technological university in 52 years. After a few years, Georgia Tech had started to shift its focus to advanced scientific research and technology. Apart from this, the university has continuously been accredited as an essential institution in the USA because of the graduation of underrepresented minorities. Georgia Tech has academic affiliations with organisations like the Association of American Universities, Southeastern Universities Research Association, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, Universities Research Association and National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. According to QS World Rankings 2022, the university is ranked #88, and as per Times Higher Education World University Rankings, 2022 is it placed at the rank of #45. Furthermore, as per the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2022, the Georgia Institute of Technology is placed at #58, globally. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Currently, the university's main campus is located in Atlanta, Georgia. Their international campuses are Georgia Tech-Lorraine in Metz, France, and Georgia Tech-Shenzhen in Shenzhen, China. Georgia Tech also offers a virtual campus through distance and online learning. The main campus is divided into four main parts: West Campus, East Campus, Central Campus, and Technology Square. There are 28 schools and 6 colleges within the university in which students get an opportunity to study Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Business. The infrastructure of this university is pretty big which covers up an area of 400 acres. The main campus consists of 43 sports clubs. The university offers 37 undergraduate majors and 46 minors. 

Accomplishments and Alumni

Georgia Tech is one of the nation's most research-intensive colleges, with more than $1 billion in yearly research grants across all six Colleges and the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). Georgia Tech's aim is to create leaders who will progress technology while also improving people's lives. Its goal and strategic plan are centred on creating a positive difference in people's lives all across the world. Georgia Tech has ventured to conceive and then build solutions for a brighter future for more than 135 years. For the sake of progress and service to all, the creative culture and leadership will continue. Furthermore, Georgia Tech boasts a number of nationally known programmes, all of which are highly regarded by peers and publications, and is listed in the top 10 public colleges in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. Also, the University's sports team of football namely, Yellow Jackets is the four-time football National Champion. There are few notable alumni who once called Georgia Institute of Technology home, including Jimmy Carter (Former President of the United States and Nobel Peace Prize Winner), Juan Carlos Varela (President of Panama in May 2014), Kary Mullis (Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry 1993) among others.

The university consists of more than 29,000 graduate and undergraduate students. A friendly campus climate, which includes intercollegiate and intramural athletics, campus traditions, and many different student clubs, balances Tech's excellent academic environment. Georgia Tech has more than 400 student organizations where religious, sexual, ethnic, diverse and racial identities are explored. Thus, students get a cutting-edge global experience to strengthen their learning experience. Moreover, the network in Atlanta city is also diverse and feels like home at the same time. It's occupied with high-tech startups, multinational corporations, restaurants, theatres, museums, concert venues, and small businesses. Due to the presence of such companies, the employment opportunity for graduates tends to increase.
