In a much-awaited announcement, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023. Thousands of aspiring candidates had appeared for the rigorous examination, hoping to secure prestigious positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central services.
The result revealed that a total of 933 candidates have been recommended for various civil services positions. So, among the candidates, 613 males and 320 female candidates made it to the final list. Furthermore, the top 25 candidates comprise 14 women and 11 men.
Ishita Kishore, Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra have secured the top four ranks in the UPSC 2022 results, respectively. Mayur Hazarika from Assam secured the fifth rank. The UPSE CSE preliminary exam was conducted on June 5th, 2022.
Women Dominated the Top Charts
The first rank holder Ishita Kishore graduated in economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University(DU). Garima Lohia is a graduate of Commerce from Kirorimal College DU. Uma Harathi graduated from IIT Hyderabad in Civil Engineering. Whereas, the fourth topper Smriti Mishra is a BSc. graduate from Miranda House, Delhi University.
For the second consecutive year, women candidates have topped the UPSC examinations and secured four out of the first five ranks in the results. Last year also, Shruti Sharma secure All India Rank 1 in UPSC CSE 2021 exam.
So, the previous year women candidates captured the first three positions. Ankita Agarwal secure AIR 2 and Gamini Singh got 3rd rank. So, women candidates are setting a trend and bagging the top ranks.
The successful candidates will now undergo further training and orientation programs before assuming their respective positions in civil services. So, their journey from this point forward will be filled with immense responsibilities.
