The achievement comes as a result of the recently unveiled National Student Survey (NSS). This is a yearly independent assessment that gauges final-year undergraduates’ perspectives on course quality. In this comprehensive survey, students responded to 27 questions spanning various aspects of their higher education journey.

Student’s Feedback

The feedback received from offering undergraduates has propelled Bradford College into the top three education institutions. Remarkably, the college clinched the number one spot nationally in the “student voice” theme, which pertains to listening to and addressing individual and collective student opinions. Impressively, this achievement surpassed the national benchmark by a notable 20.8%.

In additional significant rankings, the College secured the second position nationally for themes. Such as learning opportunities (exceeding benchmark by 11.6%) and academic support (surpassing benchmark by 13.9%). Furthermore, Bradford College achieved a third-place ranking in categories including marking & assessment (11.2% above benchmark), organization & management (22.5% above benchmark), and learning resources (6.9% above benchmark).

This accomplishment holds more weight considering that a total of 423 universities, colleges, and higher education providers from England took part. Also, gathering responses from a staggering 290,639 students. 

Data Comparison

Comparing job vacancy data from November 2022 to the same period in 2021, the research showcased a remarkable 108% surge in Optometrist roles. Even a substantial 90% increase in Optician positions. Basically, ranking these roles as the 13th and 15th most trending jobs in 2023.

With a legacy spanning over 70 years, Bradford College has been offering ophthalmic training and stands as one of the UK’s most esteemed optical education providers. Notably, the College boasts a strong partnership with Specsavers.

In a significant development, the College is set to receive a £5.8 million investment from the Higher Education Capital Fund. This is aimed at transforming the Garden Mills building into a versatile higher education STEM training hub. This upgraded facility will house specialized ophthalmic dispensing amenities. This will include an ophthalmic dispensing suite, science laboratories, a clinical suite, and a real-life work environment complete with consulting and testing booths.

The NSS outcomes also underscore that Bradford College students, across all higher education courses, hold the belief that their course feedback is acted upon, communication with teaching staff is easy, assessment feedback is timely, and teaching staff adeptly engage them with the subject matter (exceeding national benchmarks by 4.7%, 4.4%, 3.3%, and 3.4% respectively).

Bradford College’s educational portfolio encompasses a range of flexible full-time and part-time higher technical, professional, and degree courses. This includes honours degrees, post-graduate programs, foundation degrees, HNDs, and HNCs.
