The higher education sector has shown massive growth post-pandemic according to the Ministry of Education in Spain. Nearly, 30% upsurge in the number of international students is a good sign for both the students and the universities.
There were 224,080 international students in Spain in the academic session 2021-2022. Also, a number as high as 170,222 was seen for degree course admissions. Out of this 63% of students were enrolled in undergraduate programs, 23.8% in postgraduate programs and 28.1% in Doctorate programs.
A total of 53,858 students enrolled in short-term courses or university exchange programs. This number has also competed with the pre-pandemic statistics of international students. Though, right now university admissions are dominated by countries like Italy, France, Germany, and Romania. But there is a major scope for inclusion for other nations like students from India.
Where to Study in Spain?
Though the entire country is offering world-class education, there are some areas especially famous among international students. Moreover, cities like Madrid receive higher footfall of international students.
The recent numbers of international students in Madrid are 46,223, and 43,787 in Catalonia. Also, other cities include Valencia with 25,513 international students, Andalucia with 25,472 international students, and Castilla y Leon with 13,757 international students.
Also, there are some universities especially famous among international students and have a good acceptance rate throughout Spain.
