The Union Cabinet has approved the signing and ratification of the Migration and Mobility Agreement between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Italian Republic.
The agreement has many advantages for both the countries. One of the most crucial advantages of this is fostering the mobility of students between the countries. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between the countries through these efforts.
This will allow us also to ratify the irregularity in the mobility of people such as skilled workers, business people, young professionals and students between the two countries. Let’s have a detailed look at this immigration policy.
The Migration and Mobility Agreement
Previously, there were post-study opportunities, internships as well as professional training being offered to Indians according to the previous agreement. The new agreement also has all these provisions included.
Moreover, for a temporary primary experience of working in Italy, the country is offering Indian students 12 months of post-study work rights. Furthermore, Italy has added the requirement for Professional Training, Extracurricular Internships and Curricular Internships for the students.
These trainings and internships will allow students to gain an upper hand while studying in Italy. It will enhance their skills and train them in the required field technically. These changes will come into effect from the 1st of February 2024.
Both governments have tried their best to deal with the issue of irregular migration and rectified the agreement in the hope of achieving it. Once the countries are ready for the new changes, they will be implemented and analysed for results.
