This is big news for students and candidates taking the IELTS test. In case your IELTS score in one of the sections is not good, do not worry about taking the whole test again. IELTS has recently introduced one skill retake test for all candidates.
This implies that if a student is unhappy with a score in let’s say the listening section, they can rather choose to retake only the listening section. Regardless, the same goes for the reading, speaking and writing sections as well. This test can be taken within 60 days of the original test date.
However, this one-skill retake option is only available at selected test centres of IELTS Academic and General. Therefore, students must keep a check beforehand whether a centre allows the One Skill Retake or not.

Here is a list of countries where the one skill retake facility has been introduced by IDP for IELTS Academic and IELTS General.

Details of the One Skill Retake
A new test report will be issued to the candidates after taking the one skill retake for any of the sections. This result will have the updated scores for the chosen skill as well as the existing results of the other three sections.
Moreover, you can choose to send your original report or the updated report at your convenience. The prices of this test will however vary depending on the test centre. The format and duration of the test will be the same as that in the original test for that particular section.
