Study Abroad: New UK Visa Changes for 2024

For 2024, many new changes have been introduced in the UK. In this post, a timeline is presented for the key amendments that have been made to the Immigration Rules of the UK for this year. 11th March 2024: Senior care workers and care workers will not be allowed to bring dependents to the UK and care homes in England are required to be regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to sponsor migrants under the Health and Care Worker Visa Route.

14th March 2024: A new statement of changes will be laid before Parliament to replace the existing Shortage Occupation List with a new Immigration Salary List

4th April 2024: The minimum salary for a Skilled Worker Visa will rise from £26,200 to £38,700 per annum

6th April 2024: The requirement for renewing the Sponsor Licences will be removed

11th April 2024: The minimum income requirement for partners applying under Appendix FM will be increased from £18,600 to £29,000

11th March 2024: Changes to Health and Care Worker Visa

From 11th March 2024 health and care workers will not be allowed to bring their dependents including extending, changing employer, and settlement. However, a care worker or a senior care worker on the route before the change of Immigration Rules who has not brought their dependents is still allowed to bring dependents during their sponsorship on the route. In addition to this, from 11th March 2024 onwards care homes in England are required to be regulated by the Care Quality Commission to sponsor migrants under the Health and Care Worker Visa Route.

14th March 2024: Salary increase of Skilled Workers

A new statement of changes to the Immigration Rules will be presented before Parliament which will replace the existing Shortage Occupation List (SQL) with a new Immigration Salary List.
