The Australian International education sector was worth $40 billion in 2019. Due to the pandemic the number of new International students in Australia had declined. However, the latest data shows that the International students preparing to start studying in Australia has increased by 2000 compared to the pre-pandemic level. As per Catriona Jackson, the Universities Australia Chief Executive, the numbers show the recovery of International education. In January 59,000 students came to Australia which is double the enrollment in the same period last year.
However, the total enrollments are still not back to the pre-pandemic levels. Hence, there is still grounds to make up. The expectation is that the student arrivals, commencements, and enrollments will continue to grow.

As per Ravneet Pawha, the VP and CEO of Deakin University, the demand for onshore degrees have almost returned to Pre Pandemic levels for students in India.
