The January 2023 data shows that the number of new International students preparing to study in Australia has increased by 2000.

The Australian International education sector was worth $40 billion in 2019. Due to the pandemic the number of new International students in Australia had declined. However, the latest data shows that the International students preparing to start studying in Australia has increased by 2000 compared to the pre-pandemic level. The data reflects that the Australian education system is recovering in leaps and bounds.

As per Catriona Jackson, the Universities Australia Chief Executive, the numbers show the recovery of International education. In January 59,000 students came to Australia which is double the enrollment in the same period last year. 

However, the total enrollments are still not back to the pre-pandemic levels. Hence, there is still grounds to make up. The expectation is that the student arrivals, commencements, and enrollments will continue to grow.

Importance of International students in Australia

The value of International students is not just about the number of students. International students make contributions that help in improving the social and economic fabric of Australia. Moreover, it helps in strengthening the ties of Australia with another country. 

Australia has one of the best International education systems in the world. As a result, International students can benefit from quality education. Due to several benefits brought by International students, the Australian government is aiming to build its recovery and build International student strength back to pre-pandemic levels.

Indian students study in Australia 

The Australian government Immigration data shows that the number of Indian student visa grants in July-August 2022 is approximately 9000. Indian students are now going to Australia in big numbers.  

As per Ravneet Pawha, the VP and CEO of Deakin University, the demand for onshore degrees have almost returned to Pre Pandemic levels for students in India. 

Australia has opened its doors to International students. It means students who are interested in completing their education in Australia can apply to Australian Universities. There is also a great chance of acceptance from these Universities. Australia has a high standard of living and globally ranked Universities.
