Maastricht University NL-High Potential Scholarship

This Maastricht University Scholarship is meant for non-EU/EEA students who enrol in Masters programs at the institute. It offers 24 full scholarships worth € 30,000 (with tuition fee waiver and monthly stipend) every year to meritorious international students.

Eligibility Criteria: To avail of this scholarship, students must fulfil the following criteria:

  1. The applicant must be an international student without a dual nationality from an EU/EEA country.
  2. The applicant must be pursuing a full-time Masters program at UM for the academic year 2024-25.
  3. The applicant must have an excellent previous academic record. If several applicants have the same grades, then only the top 5% of the 2024-25 scholarship aspirants will be given preference.
  4. The applicant must be less than 35 years of age as of 1 September 2024.
  5. Applicants under exchange programs in the Netherlands can also apply.

Scholarship Duration: 13 months (for a 1-year Masters program), 25 months (for a 2-year Masters program).

UM Brightlands Talent Scholarship

The UM Brightlands Talent Scholarship is another Maastricht University scholarship available for international students. It offers 4 full coverage scholarships to academically strong students enrolled in a Master’s program connected to Brightlands campi. 

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must be/have:

  1. An international student not belonging to EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  2. An exchange program for students in the Netherlands (if applicable).
  3. Agreed to be an active Brightlands and UM ambassador during and after your studies.
  4. Less than 35 years of age on 1 September 2024.
  5. Conditionally admitted to a Masters program at UM.

UM Academic Achievement Scholarship

This Maastricht University scholarship aids meritorious non-EU/EEA students enrolled in Bachelors and wish to pursue their Masters at UM as well. It covers the gap amount between statutory tuition fees and institutional fees. This scholarship is offered only once every academic year.

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must be/have:

  1. An international student not belonging to the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  2. A minimum GPA of 8.0 in their Bachelor’s degree at UM.
  3. Agreed to be a UM ambassador during and after your studies.
  4. Less than 35 years of age on 1 September 2024.
  5. Conditionally admitted to a Masters program at UM.

Scholarship Duration: 12 months (for a 1-year Masters program), 24 months (for a 2-year Masters program).

Amount/Benefits: Covers the difference amount between the institutional and statutory tuition fee i.e. international students only need to pay a statutory fee after availing of this scholarship.

UM Global Studies Scholarship

Students admitted to Bachelors program can apply for this Maastricht University Scholarship. Only one full coverage scholarship is given per academic year to top performers in the batch.

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must be/have:

  1. An international student belonging to Africa, Asia (including the Middle East), Latin America and the Caribbean.
  2. An exchange program for students in the Netherlands (if applicable).
  3. Agreed to be an active Global Studies and UM ambassador during and after your studies.
  4. Less than 35 years of age on 1 September 2024.
  5. Conditionally admitted to a study program at UM.

Scholarship Duration: 36 months for bachelor’s program in Global Studies.

UM-NL Euregional Refugee Scholarship

Maastricht University scholarships also offer opportunities for higher education to refugee students from the Meuse-Rhine Euregion. The UM-NL Euregional Refugee Scholarship is meant for meritorious refugee students who wish to pursue their Masters at UM.

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must be/have:

  1. An international student holding a nationality other than EU/EEA countries.
  2. A refugee in Belgium or Germany.
  3. Signed a consent form stating that you will not move to the Netherlands and commute to Maastricht University.
  4. Conditionally admitted to a Masters program at UM (except for Medicine and Physician-Clinical Investigator courses).
