The U.S. Department of State has given scholarships to University of Wyoming students to study abroad.

Gilman Scholarships are awarded to 18 University of Wyoming students to study abroad in 2022–2023 batch. Nearly 1,500 exceptional and diverse U.S. undergraduate students received scholarships via the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program to take part in study abroad programmes in more than 80 different nations.


Gilman Scholarships award winners come from 452 American universities, 50 United States of America states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico as well.

The Institute of International Education assists the Department of State in implementing the programme. The UW Global Engagement Office and the Education Abroad Office together at UW provide assistance to the international students for Gilman Scholarship.

The application procedure will go online in the middle of January 2023, and applications will be accepted up until March 9th, 2023.

With the aim to improve access to study abroad, a scholarship grant given to a student is taken into consideration for students from various locations who are enrolled in different programs and degrees. Some of the students successfully completed their faculty-led programmes, took part in student exchange programmes, and even earned two majors in other programmes.

The Gilman International Scholarship has a 25% acceptance rate. It is therefore extremely competitive. However, if a candidate is turned down once, they may reapply. Additionally, the Scholarship has allowed students to study or intern in 106 different nations.

The Gilman Scholarship Program supports international students from all kinds of institutions by collaborating with colleges and universities across the United States of America. However, it is advised to contact with your assigned adviser and contact must be maintained throughout the application process, according to the Gilman Program.
