  • First, apply for an Egypt tourist visa from the home country. Indian citizens, and citizens of countries like Afghanistan, Canada, Bangladesh, etc are only required to obtain a tourist visa
  • Ensure that you check in with the Egyptian embassy or consulate regarding the change of your visa status from tourist to student visa holder
  • After reaching Egypt, contact your university regarding your student visa application. The university that has provided the offer letter to you will collaborate with the  Ministry of Higher Education to provide you with a student residency/ Egypt student visa.

To successfully apply for an Egypt student visa you must meet the eligibility criteria. Only when you meet these requirements, the university will apply for your visa, and you will have to pay the Egypst student visa fees.

  • Receive an offer letter from a university in Egypt 
  • Have sufficient funds to cover the living costs and the tuition fees

The following documents are needed to apply for an Egyptian student visa.

  • A passport with at least 6 months of validity 
  • Student visa application, two passport photos with white background
  • Pay the Egypt student visa fees, and present the fee receipt 
  • Additionally, you must have proof that you have sufficient funds. That is, you must be able to cover your expenses back to India
  • Proof that you have sufficient funds to cover the tuition fee expenses and miscellaneous expenses incurred by studying at a university in Egypt
  • Present the offer letter that you have obtained from a university in Egypt
  • Moreover, you must provide medical proof that you do not have AIDS.

Details Regarding Residency Visa Fee Payment 

After you have paid the Egypt student visa fees, you can confirm the nearest date at the immigration office. To start your residency visa application follow these steps:

  • Visit the bank (as stated by the University) at the university campus.
  • Next change the residency fee of EGP 2,090 from INR or any other foreign currency 
  • Obtain the stamped bank receipt from the said bank. Your name and the passport number must be visible.
  • Show the same to the Business Support Office of the university’s administration building.
  • This will confirm your immigration appointment date. 
  • You can pay the Egypt student visa fees directly to the officials at the Business Supports Office.
  • Later, the university will get the passport and residency card for you.

How much bank balance is required for an Egypt tourist visa?

Procedures for All Overseas Students

To obtain a student visa overseas all international students will undertake the following steps:

  • Visit the business support office, and fill out the business support form. All the details regarding the visa process will be provided at your email address.
  • If you haven’t received the security approval you are permitted for a 1 month extension as per the Egyptian government.
  • Those who have travel plans outside Egypt, and have sought the 6-month extension on the tourist visa can leave the country after receiving the residency card.
  • However, they are required to pay an amount of $25 after coming back to Egypt and applying for a new visa extension.
  • International students are not given multiple entry visas.
  • Students from certain countries can receive a visa extension. On the other hand. Students from countries such as Pakistan, India, Africa, etc are not given a visa extension. However, the university can provide you with an offer letter and can assist you in the residency status finalisation process.

How to Track the Egypt Visa Status?

Egypt student visas can’t be applied from India. The visa can only be applied to Egypt. Therefore, you will have to 1st apply for a tourist visa. After you have applied for the tourist visa, you can check the visa status. 

  • You can visit the website of VFS Global and enter the reference number provided on the receipt given by the Visa Application Centre. You can enter your name as well. After that, the visa application status will be available to you.
  •  Another way is to check your SMS or email ID to receive details regarding your visa application status from the visa application centre.
