Yes. A Working Holiday Austria visa exists. However, the visas are only available to nationals in selected countries. That is countries with which Austria had a bilateral agreement. Eligibility Requirements for a Working Holiday Visa Austria
The requirements for a working holiday visa are as follows. Note: the exact requirements may slightly vary depending on your nationality.
- You must be between 18 to 30 years of age.. Although the application can be sent before you have turned 18, you will not get an Austrian visa. On the other hand, applicants can stay after they have turned 30 years old if the visa has been granted before.
- You can apply for the visa 3 months before the date of intended travel. However, applications sent 3 weeks before the intended date of travel are unacceptable.
- Your work must end along with the visa expiry. Moreover, you cannot extend your visa, or apply for this visa again.
- The main purpose of travelling should not be employment or education in Austria,
- You must have a passport that is valid for at least 3 months before the duration of your stay.
- You must get a return ticket to your home country, and show the same or you must have sufficient funds to purchase the ticket.
- Additionally, you must have funds to cover your expenses for the duration of your stay
- You must have health insurance, and meet the repute requirements
- You must not be convicted of a crime. Therefore, you are required to submit a police clearance certificate.
Documents Required for a Working Holiday Visa Austria
After you have ensured that you meet the eligibility criteria, you need to gather the relevant documents. The following documents have to be submitted for a working holiday visa.
- A National visa or D visa application form
- A passport photograph as per the ICAO guidelines
- A valid passport was issued within the last 10 years and is valid for at least 3 months beyond the duration of our stay. You must have 2 free visa pages.
- Submit proof of finances to cover your expenses in Austria
- You must have medical insurance of at least EUR 30,000 that is valid in all the Schengen areas.
- Submit a police clearance certificate
- Proof that you have paid the consular fees (approximately EURO 150.00)
- Air tickets to and from Austria and proof that you have funds to purchase a ticket.
How to Apply for an Austria Working Holiday Visa?
The application form for a working holiday Austria visa must be submitted to an Austrian embassy or consulate in your home country. The exact application process may differ from country to country. We have only provided the general application process below:
- Download the D visa application form, and complete the same
- Gather the relevant documents
- Get an appointment at a visa application centre in your home country
- On the appointment day, visit the visa application centre along with your documents.
- You may have to submit your biometric information and pay the visa fees (if not already paid)
- Your application will be processed, and you will be informed of the results

You need to enquire about the quota.
Can You Extend a Woking Holiday Austria Visa?
No. You cannot apply for a visa extension. If you have received an Austrian working holiday visit before, you cannot get a new working holiday visa or extend it. However, you can apply for a working holiday visa in any other country.
What Happens if My Austria Working Holiday Visa is Rejected?
If your visa application is rejected you can apply again. Reapplications are accepted for working holiday visas. However, you must ensure that you have identified the reason for the visa rejection, and have corrected the same. Austria has not set any time limit for reapplications.
Another option is to appeal against the decision. However, a visa appel can only be made if you have proof that your visa application has been unfairly rejected.
