There are 2 different types of US Job visas: non-immigrant visas (granted temporarily), and immigrant visas (permanent basis). These two visas have several subcategories.

Non-Immigrant US Job Visa

The following are the temporary US job visas.

L: Intracompany TransfereeThrough this visa, the candidates can work in a speciality occupation. This visa requires a post-secondary degree that involves at least 4 years of study in the field of specialization
Artist/Entertainer (Individual or Group): P-3Coach or teach culturally unique or traditional ethnic, musical, theatrical, etc
P-1:  Individual or Team Athlete, or Member of an Entertainment GroupFor performance at a specific athletic competition as an athlete or as a member of an entertainment group
Artist/Entertainer (Individual or Group): P-2For performance in an exchange event between an organisation in one country and the US

Immigrant US Job Visa 

There are mainly 5 different types of immigrant visas. These are as follows. Do note the

Fifth Preference EB-5This preference is reserved for business investors who invest $1.8 million or $900,000 (if the investment is made in a targeted employment area) in a new commercial enterprise that employs at least 10 full-time U.S. workers.
Fourth Preference EB-4This preference is reserved for “special immigrants,” which includes certain religious workers, employees of U.S. foreign service posts, retired employees of international organizations, etc. 
Third Preference EB-3This preference is reserved for professionals, skilled workers, and other workers
Second Preference EB-2This preference is reserved for persons who are members of the professions holding advanced degrees, etc
First Preference EB-1This preference is reserved for persons of extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, etc

Documents Required for US Job Visa

The following documentation is necessary for a US work visa. It is essential for US work visa acceptance. Note: these are the documents needed for a non-immigrant visa. An immigrant or a green card holder visa might require the applicant to submit more documents

  • The applicant must provide a photocopy of their valid passport. 
  • The Receipt Number is shown on Form 1-29 
  •  Letter of Affirmation to confirm that the application for a nonimmigrant visa (DS-160 Form) was completed.
  • Submit the $190 application cost for a work visa
  • Evidence of return to the nation of origin. 
  • Any further records that may be needed

How to Apply for a USA Job Visa?

A US job visa application can be made by anyone who meets the requirements and has turned in the necessary paperwork. Note: the green card applicant visa application process can slightly differ.

  • First, complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form (Form DS-160) and print the confirmation page.
  • Arrange a meeting in a US consulate or embassy and show up for the interview. 
  • The decision regarding the visa would be based on the outcome of the interview and the data in the DS-160 form.
  • Fulfill any other prerequisites. Give the biometric data, for instance, either before or after the interview.
  • After the visa has been processed, pay the visa insurance premium.

The labor conditions application or LCA is a certificate the US Department of Labor provides. The certification allows a company to hire foreign US workers. The LCA declares that the suitable candidate for the job is not available in the US. Moreover, the salary that the employer is going to grant is at par with the US worker. 

What is an Employment Petition?

An employment petition is submitted by a US employer who wants to sponsor a foreign worker for a US Job visa. The petition is submitted to the USCIS and includes details such as the job position, work experience, salary, etc of the employee. Moreover, the US employer is bound to pay the fee for the petition and attach documents proving that the company has sufficient funds to hire workers, and has acquired the LCA.

The work permit is known as an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). The non-immigrant US job visa applicants must acquire EAD after the visa approval. It is an essential requirement to travel to the US.
