When is National Cancer Awareness Day Observed and Celebrated?
National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated on 7 November every year to spread awareness about the severity of cancer, its symptoms, and treatment. This day was initiated by Harsh Vardhan, the Union Health Minister in 2014, from then onwards India is celebrating this day.
This day is celebrated in honour of Marie Curie to commemorate her birth anniversary. She was a French physicist and chemist who was involved in the discovery and research of radioactive elements. She studied radium and polonium elements and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911.
She was also facilitated with another Nobel Prize in 1903 for Physics that she shared with Henry Becquerel and Pierre.
