Who was Maharishi Dayanda Saraswati?

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati was an Indian philosopher, social leader and reformer who founded the Arya Samaj. He was born in 1824 in Gujarat, India in a Brahmin family. He left his home and wandered around for 15 years in search of a higher truth. Dayanand Saraswati learned from his experiences and he followed the Vedas. 

He wrote almost 60 works in his lifetime which tell about the true essence of life. The Light of Truth is among his most popular works. Maharishi Dayanand founded the Arya Samaj in 1875 with a vision of universal brotherhood.
