National Pharmacist Day is celebrated in the United States on 12 January every year to support and acknowledge the work of Pharmacists. Generally, you will see a Pharmacist behind the counter who reads the doctor’s prescription and dispense the drugs. But his role is much more than that. Pharmacists are drug experts who possess extensive knowledge about the formulation, manufacturing, packaging, and dispensing of drugs.

As per the notice released by PCI (Pharmacy Council of India), India celebrates Pharmacist Day on 25 September. It is one of the most noble professions in the world.

The theme for World Pharmacist Day is announced by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in the preceding year in March. But, the theme for National Pharmacist Day 2024 has not been declared.
Initially, the role of the pharmacist was restricted to checking and distributing drugs to doctors for the patients. But in recent times, there scope of pharmacists has increased as they are also involved in advising patients and healthcare providers about the selection of drugs, dosage form, dose frequency, drug-drug interaction, drug-food interaction, and the side effects of drugs, etc.
