❓Who was Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman?

Born on November 7, 1888, in the city of Tiruchirapalli of Tamil Nadu, CV Raman was the second of eight children in his family. His father Chandrasekaran Ramanathan Iyer was a teacher of Mathematics and Physics. His mother Parvathi Ammal was taught by her husband to read and write. The family was financially unstable at the time of Raman’s birth, however, the situation improved when he was four years old as his father became a lecturer. Eventually, the family then moved to Visakhapatnam. From a very young age, CV Raman showcased exceptional talent in studies. He was very interested in reading books and Science as a subject always fascinated the young Raman.

One of the most distinguished scientists of the 20th century, C V Raman became the first national professor of India after the country gained independence. Apart from this, he also won the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his groundbreaking work in the field of physics.
