Why is JNU Fee so Low?

The Government of India takes care of all the expenses related to JNU University. It includes salaries of Teachers, and other non-teaching staff, stationary expenses, hostel expenses and a lot more other expenses. The aim is to offer higher education free to those students who are meritorious but not financially stable to pay expensive fees. 

The university administration charges only minimal fees to general students and EWS students. Other than this, students who belong to reserve categories including physically abled students, can study free of cost.

Admission Fee of JNU

There is no admission fee for JNU. Students who want to get admission here, have to pass a common entrance test conducted at a national level. For different courses, there are different common entrance exams. Candidates can take part in the counselling process after getting shortlisted for admission.

How Much fee hike in JNU?

In the year 2019, JNU Fees increased for UG and PG students. Earlier, the fee for MPhil and PhD courses was Rs 295 per semester. Now, it has been increased to Rs 780 per semester.
