AFNA Scholarship: Overview
Many students have exhibited good academic performance but have fallen short of their goals owing to financial constraints.
The Assam Foundation of North America decided to provide an Education scholarship to such youngsters in order to guide them. AFNA students will receive financial assistance to further their education through the Assam Foundation Akadamics Scholarship.
This scholarship is intended specifically for students pursuing bachelor’s degrees. If you are a permanent resident of Assam and meet the eligibility requirements, you can take advantage of this scholarship.
Aim of the AFNA Scholarship
AFNA’s primary objectives are as follows:
- To spread and enhance Assam-North America’s social, cultural, technical, medical, and educational contacts.
- To give study materials such as textbooks, technical periodicals, and learning materials to Assam and North American institutions.
- To promote North American cooperation.
- To encourage and facilitate organizational and individual efforts to maintain Assam-North America mutual understanding.
- To foster friendship and goodwill between North America and Assam.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for the scholarship:
- The applicant must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in any discipline.
- At the current time, an applicant cannot receive a scholarship to attend a diploma course or a certificate course.
- The applicant must have passed the secondary school exams.
- Family income per head should not exceed 50,000 rupees per year.
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen who is a permanent resident of Assam.

Application Process

- To apply for the scholarship, go to the Assam Foundation of North America’s website, AFNA.
- You must navigate to the project option in the portal’s menu bar from the home page.
- The Add drop-down list will appear on the screen, from which you must select the “ACADEMICS” option.
- A new list will appear, from which you must select the application form option.
- The application form will appear on the screen of your computer or laptop.
- Begin typing the information requested on the application form.

Selection Process
- There is no requirement for a minimum academic score, grade, or percentage to be eligible for the scholarships. AFNA SSB will make the scholarship based on all information supplied in the application form, including the essay questions in Section 10.
- Potential grantees will need to fill out an application form. The applications are accepted between 1 January and 30 April each year.
- The AFNA Scholarship Selection Board (SSB) reviews completed applications, and the Board’s decision is final.
Renewal of the Scholarship
Once awarded, a scholarship is valid until the end of the academic year for which it was given. If the awardee achieves the following criteria, the scholarship will be renewed for the following academic year:
- The awardee must reapply for the scholarship renewal for the next academic year.
- The awardee must receive a clear promotion to the following academic year based on the institution’s standards.
- Good behavior and frequent attendance must be validated by the Head of the College/Institution. In the situation of low attendance, applications may be considered depending on the student’s reason.
- The candidate remains in the course as a regular student until the course is completed. If the candidate drops out of the course, he or she must notify AKADAMICS promptly, or the scholarship will be revoked.
- Scholarship renewals will be decided by the AFNA Scholarship Selection Board (SSB) for AKADAMICS.
