OTET stands for Odisha State Teacher Eligibility Test. OTET is conducted to elect teachers in Odisha State. This is a state-level examination. However, the official announcement for this year’s application process is yet to happen.

Candidates who have a degree in B.ED can apply for the OTET exam to get jobs in government and private schools in the state. Odisha Board Secondary Education (BSE) conducts this exam yearly to choose the candidates for government and private schools for Classes 1 to 8.

OTET 2023 Exam Pattern

The OTET exam takes place in two parts-Paper I and Paper II. This is classified based on which class the candidate wishes to teach. Paper I is for Class I-V and Paper II is for Class VI-VIII. 

Paper I is 150 marks and lasts for about 150 minutes with objective-type questions. However, Paper II is for 90 marks that last for about 150 minutes. Paper I consists of English and Odia as mandatory subjects.

OTET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are interested in giving the OTET exam must first ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed by the conducting body. There are two papers in the entrance exam. Some criteria are the same for both papers, but some also differ.

Educational Qualifications

Paper 1 

  • Higher secondary(with at least 50%) + 2-year diploma in Special Education (CT or D.EL.ED)
  • 45% in Class XII (according to NCTE) + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Higher secondary (at least 50%)+ 2-year diploma in special education.

Paper 2

  • Graduation+ 2-year diploma in elementary education 
  • 50% in graduation + 1-year course in B.Ed
  • Grade point of at least 45% +1-year course in B.Ed that complies with NCTE
  • 50& in Class XII + 4-year course in B.El.Ed 
  • 50% in Class XII + 1-year course in B.Ed + B.A./ B.Sc, Ed or B.A. Ed./ B.Sc. Ed. 
  • 50% in graduation + 1-year course in B.Ed(Special education)

Application Process For OTET 2023 Exam

The application process for the OTET Exam is pretty simple when compared to the application for any other post. However, there are some documents which are needed to fill out the application form. Candidates should gather these documents beforehand to avoid any confusion.

Step 1: Click on the official website of BSE. and click on the latest registration available. 

Step 2: Enter all the registration details like name, password and email address etc.

Step 3: You will get the login details once you put in all these details.

Step 4: After getting the credentials, fill in the application form with all the details like your educational qualifications etc.

Step 5: Submit the application form and review it once again. Submit the application form finally and pay the application fees.

Step 6: You can also print the application form for future reference.

OTET 2023 Admit Card

Conducting bodies usually release the admit card of an exam shortly before the examination. Candidates can follow the below steps to download the admit card:

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Odisha board. Find the application page and click on it.

Step 2: Click on the login option and log in with your credentials. You can then see an option to view and download the admit card for OTET 2023 exam. 

There are a lot of details that are mentioned in your admit card i.e name, category, and gender of the candidate. Candidates should verify this information to ensure there are no discrepancies.

Preparation Tips

The internet is often filled with tips which are irrelevant or often end up causing more chaos than clear confusion. Accordingly, we have compiled a few tips to prepare for this exam which will come in handy for the candidates preparing for the exam:

OTET 2023 Result

After the written exam, the results are declared on the official website of the board. There is a computerized mark sheet for every candidate. These are some of the steps to see your result:

Step 1: Visit the official website of BSE. 

Step 2: If the results are out, you will see a notification of OTET Result Out. Click on that tab.

Step 3: You will be redirected to the login page. Log in with your credentials i.e your Registration number and password. 

Step 4: You can view your result and also download it for future purposes. 

OTET 2023 Selection Process

To qualify for the OTET exam 2023, you must score 60% if you belong to the General category or 50% for Reserved Category, in the written examination. 

After clearing the written examination, candidates will also need to clear the Interview that is conducted to check the personality of the candidate. Candidates who clear both the written examination and interview will finally be selected and an announcement in this regard will be made on the official website.

OTET 2023 Cut-Off

Cutt-off of the OTET exam is calculated based on the number of applicants appearing, and the difficulty level of the exam. If the candidate scores more than the minimum qualifying marks, he/she will appear in the next round.

To check the cut-off marks for the OTET Exam, candidates should visit the official website of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha. 

The minimum qualifying marks vary in different categories. Candidates, who are in the General category should score a minimum of 60%, whereas, the candidates in the reserved categories (SC/ST/SEBC/OBC/PH) should score a minimum of 50%.
