CUSAT CAT Law Exam Pattern
Candidates can get admission to a number of courses available at CUSAT by qualifying for the CUSAT CAT Law exam pattern. The exam patterns for all these different courses are as follows:
BBA/B.Com LLB (5-Year)
Both the BBA LLB and B.Com LLB programmes consist of a regular course of study for a minimum period of 10 semesters in five years after completing the plus two. The exam pattern for both of the courses is similar. The examination will be conducted in two parts. There will be a total of 150 questions and the duration will be 2 hours (120 minutes). The question will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Here is the exam pattern of the previous year for aspiring candidates to get a hold of the exam pattern.

Much like BBA LLB and B.Com LLB, the LLB entrance examination comprises 150 questions divided into two parts. The total duration for the paper is 2 hours (120 minutes). All the questions are objective-type questions (MCQs).

LLM and LLM (IPR, 2-Year)
The exam pattern for the CUSAT CAT LLM and LLM (IPR) examination is different from BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, and LLB. The pattern for both LLM and LLM (IPR) is common. The duration for the CUSAT CAT LLM exam is 3 hours (180 minutes). The exam paper will be divided into two parts, i.e, Part I and Part II. Part I will be a combined assessment of proficiency in English and analytical reasoning capability whereas Part II will be a compulsory paper in Law as prescribed by the Bar Councill of India (BCI). The total number of questions will be 150 and it will be in the Multiple-choice Questions (MCQs) format.

Additionally for admission to the CUSAT LLM and LLM (IPR) programme, after qualifying for the entrance examination, candidates are required to appear for a Group discussion and a Personal Interview. Only those candidates shortlisted based on the marks scored in the entrance will be called for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Key Guidelines Regarding Marking Scheme
Along with knowing the CUSAT CAT Law Exam Pattern 2023, candidates must follow the guidelines to plan for the exam accordingly. The key guidelines are given below:
- The candidates must keep in mind that for incorrect answers, there will be a negative marking applicable. 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong response from the paper and for every correct response, the candidate will be awarded 3 marks respectively.
- The aspiring candidate must try to score a minimum of 10 marks in each subject to be shortlisted in the merit list (the merit list will be prepared solely based on the scores scored by the candidates in the CUSAT CAT Law Exam 2023).
- According to the instructions of CUSAT, the negative marking will not be applicable for any unanswered/unresponded questions.
- In case, if the question in the exam paper is wrong, then the candidate is eligible to get full marks on that particular question, as per the instruction of the exam conducting body, i.e CUSAT.
