JEE Main Counselling 2023

The JEE Main Counselling Process is the process of allocating seats to eligible candidates in engineering colleges across India. The counselling is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). It is majorly the part of JEE Mains Selection Process.

The counselling process is based on the candidate’s rank in the JEE Main exam. Candidates who have qualified for the JEE Main exam are eligible to participate in the counselling process. The counselling process consists of various rounds of seat allocation, wherein candidates are allotted seats based on their preferences and ranks.

Process of JEE Main Counseling

The JoSAA conducts 6 rounds of seat allocation for candidates who have qualified for the JEE Main exam. The first 6 rounds are for candidates who have secured a rank within the opening and closing ranks announced by JoSAA. The last round is an open round, wherein candidates can be allotted seats from the remaining vacant seats.

Candidates who have been allotted a seat in any of the rounds are required to pay a seat acceptance fee and confirm their participation in the counselling process. Candidates who do not wish to participate in further rounds or do not get allotted a seat in any of the rounds can withdraw from the counselling process by notifying JoSAA.

The final allotment of seats will be done after taking into account various factors such as candidates’ preferences, availability of seats, reservations, etc.
