Sarojini Naidu was the first woman governor of an Indian state. She got appointed to this post after the Independence of the country. She was in this post from 15 August 1947 to 02 March 1949. Sarjoni Naidu is also known as the Nightingale of India. Her daughter, Padmaja Naidu was the second women governor of any Indian state. She held this post for the longest time (11 Years Almost).

Sarjoni Naidu was a freedom fighter. She played an important role in the independence campaign of the country. She was born in a Bengali Family in Hyderabad state on 13 February 1879. She died as governor of Uttar Pradesh.
