NIIT Full Form

NIIT full form is National Institute of Information Technology. NIIT, headquartered in Gurgaon, India, is a global education firm that focuses on information and computer technology. Although it offers business IT solutions, it is best known for its IT training. It is one of India’s premier providers of computer education. It also offers training for IT certifications such as CCNA and NET, Java, and others. NIIT is listed on the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NSE (National Stock Exchange) in India.

History of NIIT

• NIIT was created in 1981 with a million rupees by IIT Delhi grads Rajendra S. Pawar and Vijay K. Thadani. NIIT pioneered the franchise concept for IT education, establishing nine centres by 1987.
• NIIT began its foray into the software industry in 1986, with Software Product Delivery under the label Insoft.
• In 2004, the company was divided into two divisions: NIIT Limited and NIIT Technologies.
• In May 2019, Baring Private Equity Asia purchased a managing share in NIIT Technologies Ltd.

Functions of NIIT

NIIT achieves its purpose by performing the three key functions listed below:

• The Federal Chief Information Officers (CIO) Council is run by NIIT. The CIO Council allows the Federal Government to share best practices, identify and resolve common concerns, and provide policy recommendations for information technology use.
• NIIT provides leadership and guidance for the development and use of information technology in government. 
• NIIT encourages the use of information technology in government by offering information and resources to federal employees and the general public.
