  • Loan Clerks – Loan clerk is responsible for carrying out loan-related activities such as loan processing, auditing and finalising forms of contracts. They also perform background checks of the organization or individual who has applied for the loan 
  • Statement Clerks – They check the account of every customer and then prepare a monthly balance sheet. They also provide bank statements to the customer. Statement clerks manage account-related inquiries and solve discrepancies as well. 
  • Security Clerks – Their job is to manage and maintain records and files. They look after several investments including bonds and stocks. 
  • Exchange Clerks – They work on international accounts in the bank. Their job details include converting foreign currency into Indian rupees and the other way around depending on the current foreign exchange rates

Steps to Become a Bank Clerk

The following are the steps to becoming a bank clerk:

Education 

The candidate is required to complete their 10+2 level of education in any stream with an aggregate of 50%. However, most students who wish to become bank clerks choose to study commerce stream in their high school. 

Entrance Examination

Students who want to become bank clerks may be required to qualify for the entrance exam conducted by particular universities. Some universities do accept admission based on merit criteria while some choose to conduct entrance exams. The following are the popular entrance exams for becoming a bank clerk:

IPU CET – Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test 

BHU UET – Banaras Hindu University Undergraduate Entrance Test

AMU AT – Aligarh Muslim University Admission Test

Degree 

Students can choose to pursue any field-related degree course including banking, finance, accounting, taxation, bachelor’s of commerce, bachelor’s of business administration etc. After pursuing an undergraduate degree, students can either choose to pursue a postgraduate degree or do an internship.
