The University of Strasbourg is a public research-oriented university founded in the year 1538 by Johannes Sturm, a protestant scholar. Strasbourg University is located in Strasbourg city in France. Earlier in 1970, Strasbourg University was divided into three different academic institutions namely- Louis Pasteur University, Marc Bloch University and Robert Schuman University. These three universities finally merged again in the year 2009 and became the University of Strasbourg, a unique and pioneering university in France. It is aiming to enhance international exposure and develop the multidisciplinary aspects of education and research.  This public academic institution in France is affiliated with AACSB, LERU, EFMD, and EUCOR. 

In the year 2022, Strasbourg university secured 421 in QS, 501-600th in Times Higher Education and #253 in US News and World Report ranking.

 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

University of Strasbourg campus is located across the city. The Central Campus is located in the Esplanade area. University covers some major academic fields namely  Arts, Literature and Languages, Management and Political Science, Science and Technology,  Law, Economics, Health, Humanities and Social Science through 35 educational and research departments. It offers full-time and part-time degrees in the subject areas of Accounting and Finance, Humanities, Social Sciences, History, Mathematics, Psychology, Law, Sport and Health, Drama, English and Creative Writing and many others. The courses are developed in such a manner that instils transferable skills which are useful for study or employment in the future.

University of Strasbourg is a well-known name in the field of research-based learning. University is acknowledged as a centre of excellence in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Medicine, Chemistry, and Material Physics. University has actively contributed to the growth and development of social science and humanities. The University of Strasbourg has produced 18 Nobel Prizes since the day of its inception. Nobel laureates Karl Ferdinand Braun (German Engineer and Inventor), Martin Karplus (Austrian and American Theoretical Chemist), Albert Schweitzer (German Polymath), Pieter Zeeman (Dutch Physicist), and Jules Hoffmann (French Biologist) are some of the notable alumni of the university.
