History, Affiliations and Ranking 

Founded in 1907, Mannheim's first School of Commerce quickly grew into a thriving higher education institution. In 1933, the School was merged with the University of Heidelberg and the institution went through a series of identities before officially designated a university in 1967.The university is associated with AACSB; AMBA; CFA Institute; Council on Business & Society; DFG; EQUIS; ENTER; German Universities Excellence Initiative; IAU; IBEA. The University of Mannheim offers first-rate bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. Numerous university rankings confirm the high quality of the programs available. The University of Mannheim regularly achieves top positions in both national and international rankings for its programs in the fields of Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Romance Studies, History, English and American Studies, German Studies, and Business Informatics.

Infrastructure, Courses and Campuses

The University has two types of campuses ,Campus East, from Mannheim Palace to Mannheim Main Station, and Campus West, consisting of the squares A5 and B6 which are within walking distance to the palace. The university of Mannheim gradually offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses in business administration, economics, law, social sciences, humanities, mathematics, computer science and information systems every year from all over the world.  The prominence of the University of Mannheim has always remained in business and economics, although teaching was expanded to further disciplines. Master's programs include Mannheim Master in Management; and Master in Economic and Business Education. The university also offers study programs in Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Romance Studies, History, English Studies, German Studies and Business Informatics. The university's campus is located in the city center of Mannheim and its main campus is in the Mannheim Palace.

Among the German universities, the University of Mannheim was particularly successful in the areas of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management Studies, and Economics & Econometrics, ranking first nationwide in each category. University of Mannheim is Germany's best university in Economics and Business Administration. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject, the University of Mannheim ranks number 73 worldwide in the Social Sciences and Management category. The Alumni network of University of Mannheim is also known as ABSOLVENTUM and is considered the biggest alumni network in Germany. The alumni regulates monitoring programs and coaching for students. The Alumni Network regularly hosts annual events as well as formal get-together for the alumni to network amongst each other and seek professional advice. There are many notable alumni in various field programs. Some of the notable alumni of University of Mannheim are Henning Kagermann (Former CEO of SAP), Bruno Salzer ( CEO of Hugo Boss), Jens Weidmann (President of Deutsche Bundesbank) and many others.

It publishes the Q.S. World University Rankings every year. The Q.S. rating, which is considered one of the three most widely read university rankings globally, is approved by the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG). The institution uses six metrics, namely Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Citations per faculty, International Faculty Ratio and International Student Ratio, that effectively capture university performance.
