Umea University is the fifth oldest university in Sweden, which was established in 1965. It is ranked among the world's top young universities and is well known for its creative learning and comprehensive educational approach. The Umea University is best known for its approachability and openness. It consists of American style main campus by the riverside with a contemporary arts campus. Students from more than 100 nations get enrolled in the courses offered in the various colleges of the university. Students are provided with comprehensive and theoretical knowledge of the concerned subject in which they are enrolled. It constitutes of more than 4000 employees. The Umea university offers more than 163 disciplines in its different schools and colleges campuses. In present times, the university ranks among the top 100 universities of the world. It offers both master’s degree as well as doctoral degree programs at its several schools and colleges like- MBA, Masters in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Eastern Christian Studies, Ancient and Medieval Philosophy programme, Social Studies, Language Technology and a Masters in Media Designing, MFA Child Culture Programming, Masters of Fine Arts Programme, Master of Tourism Management Program etc. Along with the Master degree programme, the university also hold PhD programs in various disciplines. It also offers practical training in doctoral study for providing hands-on expertise in the course studied by the students. The university also emphasis the extra-curricular activities like sports, music, social ministry, group activities and active participation in the social cause for the all-round development of its students. It has the most extensive alumni and faculty network consisting of more than 20,000 members, who are spread across 100 countries. Stefan Lofven, Hanna Ljungberg, the current Prime Minister of Sweden, retired international football star, and acclaimed film director Kay Pollak, etc. are included in the alumni of Umea University. Today, the university has a faculty of four disciplines which include- Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Technology, and Faculty of Social Sciences.
