Since its establishment in 1971, the University of Kassel has had a long road of History and Accomplishments. It has been repeatedly awarded for its teaching and academics. The region's economic revival of the last two decades has been widely attributed to the University and its encouragement of entrepreneurship. Germany's leading weekly paper Die Zeit called it a role model for universities nationwide. Many Notable alumni like GĂĽnther Cramer (Entrepreneur, SMA Technologie), Thomas Stellmach (Filmmaker and winner of the Academy Award for the animated motion picture Quest), and Klaus Stern (Filmmaker and winner of the Adolf-Grimme-Preis for WeltmarktfĂĽhrer (2004), a documentary) have graduated through the University of Kassel.
