Founded in 1865 as the Trenton Business College, Rider University was established to train business leaders in the booming industrialized post-Civil war economy. From a private Business College to getting University status in 1994 and becoming a student-centered comprehensive University today, Rider is one of the best universities in the USA. What distinguishes Rider is its emphasis on “Engaged Learning,” which allows students to combine academics, career goals and interests to align their educational experience more to reflect their personality and goals. Students can travel, lead, create, serve and do more to create a meaningful education, that is uniquely the student’s. Rider University is academically affiliated with the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) and the Sea-grant colleges in the US. According to the Princeton Review, Rider University ranks as “A Best 387 College.”

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Rider University has one campus that spreads across a stunning 280 acres of stretch in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. There are tree-lined walkways, expansive green stretches, and a 2.5 acre lake. Further, in addition to 5 academic buildings, there are multiple contemporary social spaces, state-of-the-art labs, theaters, recreation centers, and other facilities to facilitate the learning experience. Academically, Rider University is structured into 4 Colleges, namely the Norm Brodsky College of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Education and Human Services, and the Westminster College of the Arts. Across these 4 Colleges, the University offers 100+ undergraduate majors and minors, and 50+ Graduate degrees and certificate programs. Courses are accompanied by opportunities to study abroad, teaching assistantships, internships and work placements, along with the chance to cultivate your artistic side. 

Accomplishments and Alumni

Rider University began as a private Business College and has expanded to become a comprehensive University in the United States recognized for being the country’s Best Values. 94% of the full-time faculty at Rider University hold a Doctorate degree, or the highest level of qualification in their respective fields. Further, the University offers all its enrolled students with what is called the “Cranberry Investment,” which is the University’s guarantee that the Rider graduates will be accepted to a higher degree program, or work a paid 6-month internship within 6 months of graduation. Rider University has a global network of more than 60,000 alumni. The Alumni Relations is a mentionable segment of the university since it maintains the connection between the alumni. Some of the notable names include - Digger Phelps - American basketball coach and Mark Schweiker - Former Governor of Pennsylvania.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

Rider University has a student population of more than 4,600 students, out of which 3,600+ are undergraduates while 1000+ are enrolled in Postgraduate programs. Nearly 3% of international students representing 53 countries attend Rider every year. Out of the total student population, 58% are women students, while approximately 45% of the total students are ethnically diverse. Students are called the “Rider Broncs,” who participate in a vibrant campus community with plenty of athletics, recreation and social opportunities. Some of the top recruiters at the University include - Merrill Lynch Bank of America, Deloitte, EY, Bloomberg LP, Johnson and Johnson among others.
