History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1894, Newcastle College was formerly known as Rutherford Memorial College. Further, in 1962, the college was separated into two parts the College of Further Education and the Charles Trevelyan Technical College. In 1972, the two colleges collaborated and became known as Newcastle College of Arts & Technology which later in 1988, changed to Newcastle College. The Newcastle College has affiliations with Russell Group, European University Association (EUA), N8 Group, Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Universities UK, EQUIS, AMBA, and AACSB. The Newcastle College ranks #134 in the QS World University Rankings 2022 and #146 in World University Rankings 2022 by Times Higher Education.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Newcastle College has four campuses situated in Newcastle, Malaysia, Singapore, and London. The Newcastle main campus has an award-winning library service and Center for Physical Recreation and Sport. The main campus is spread over 50 acres of land. The Newcastle Helix Urban Sciences building is home to the School of Computing and is an active laboratory where research is done. Four libraries provide exceptional educational resources that include six million ebooks, one million books in print, 500 personal computers, rare and historic books and maps, Wi-Fi across campus, amongst others. Newcastle College houses a world-class sports center called The Centre for Physical Recreation and Sport. There are more than 160 communities provided by the Newcastle University student union. Through the Athletic Union, Newcastle College provides 65 sports communities to all its students. There are more than 200 bachelor's and 300 master's programs at Newcastle College respectively. Degree programs are provided across four subject faculties including accounting and finance, business management, economics, and marketing.
Accomplishments and Alumni
The Newcastle College is a founding member of the Russell Group and holds a world-class reputation for pioneering research and innovation in the faculties of medicine, science and engineering, social sciences, arts, and humanities. The notable alumni of the institute are Joe McElderry - X-Factor 2009 winner, Ross Markham Noble, an English stand-up comedian, and Michelle Christine Heaton, an English pop singer.

Newcastle College values diversity in all its dimensions. The University has more than 28,000 students enrolments, out of which 21,000 are undergraduates, more than 6,700 are postgraduates with more than 2,400 faculty within the premises. They have more than 7,300 international students on campus. The male to female ratio is 48:52 at Newcastle College making it a fairly gender-balanced university.
