Established in 1923, Lamar University Beaumont was previously known as South Park Junior College with 125 students enrolled during its first fall semester. Now, nearly a century later, Lamar University has become home to over 15,000 students providing more than 139-degree programs across numerous faculties. With more than 15,000 students calling Lamar University their home, it is also one of the fastest-growing institutions in Texas. As a member of the Texas State University System, Lamar University has inexpensive average tuition fees as compared to any university system in the state. Lamar University has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, which allows the university to offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD degrees. Lamar University is also one of the top universities in the US, recognized by both US News and World Report as well as QS World University Rankings.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

Lamar University has a 300-acre campus, the institute boasts of providing you with everything you need to succeed. Those selected to study here will get to select from 100 undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs across different disciplines. Students can choose from a variety of options when it comes to the courses and degrees available. Currently, Lamar University provides 139-degree programs through five bachelor's colleges, one graduate, and one honors college. Those interested in pursuing an undergraduate, postgraduate, or Ph.D. at Lamar University can choose from different disciplines such as Business, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Development, and Fine Arts.

Lamar University has been home to a variety of notable alumni who have contributed to society in different ways, ranging from singers, and actors to Nasa engineers and politicians and professional basketball and baseball players. Lamar University has been churning out successful graduates over the years. Lamar University has been recognized for its sports and athletics department with its baseball program receiving national recognition while other sports activities instill excitement among the students and faculty alike. However, Lamar University prides itself on overall excellence as can be seen in its recognition as a Research University by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, which has recognized a total of 29 public colleges and institutions in the US.
